Graduates can now apply for one of the highly-sought places on Skills for Care’s 2018/19 12-month Graduate Management programme, before the closing deadline of 09 April.
Starting in October 2018, the programme has been developed in partnership with the NHS Leadership Academy, the Department of Health and Social Care and the sector’s employers who will host the graduates.
The Graduate Management programme fast-tracks graduates towards leadership roles, based on strategic and frontline experience offered by their social care host organisations that are carefully matched with the graduate. Successful graduates will gain experience in both social care and health settings, against a backdrop of integrated working across the sectors.
Skills for Care CEO Sharon Allen said:
Our sector will face significant challenges over the next few years, so our graduates will be key to shaping future services that will support the lives of our fellow citizens in a more integrated way. Based on the high demand for places on previous programmes, I would encourage graduates not to miss out on this fantastic opportunity. Our programme encourages high-level thinking and partnership working across different areas of social care and health. Our previous experience shows that our graduates’ innovative work gives care organisations great value and person-centred research and projects, as they move towards becoming tomorrow’s leaders.
During the 12-month programme, graduates will have real responsibility from day one with their social care host employer and undertake a secondment within a health-based setting and associated research project. They will also take part in ongoing leadership development, coaching, business training and management qualifications that will support their progression to become influential leaders.
Who can apply?
This is an extremely competitive and demanding programme open to graduates from any degree discipline. However, they must:
- have graduated in the last seven years
- have/will have at least a 2:2 degree by September 2018
- have the right values and ambitions for a career in care.
