What the verifier said…

The Employer service is one ‘arm’ of the group which operates in a similar way to a recruitment agency, working closely with Job Centre Plus, to effectively manage recruitment, training and development as well as providing applicants with employability skills which may be required to enable them to sustain employment.

Care Plus have supported 17 apprentices on a variety of frameworks including Health and Social Care, Administration and Retail.  7 of these apprentices have now secured full-time employment with the Care Plus group, and 8 are currently progressing through a Level 2 Health and Social Care Framework.

Care Plus use external training providers to deliver formal training and support the apprentices through their qualification.  Care Plus act as mediators between the apprentice, the training provider and the employer to ensure interventions are managed appropriately.

One apprentice said: ‘after I was made redundant Care Plus gave me an opportunity, of which I am very grateful.’  Another Apprentice said: ‘Care Plus are a great organisation to work for…the support I have received from Sharon and the team has been invaluable in enabling me to progress.’

What the judges said...

The judges particularly liked how Care Plus has shown that they offer bespoke training, tailored to the individual – supported by coaching and mentoring by an ex-apprentice. They also felt they were winners because of the opportunities for people with disabilities. They also liked that there was lots of attention paid to ensure that Care Plus kept up to date with the latest learning developments and felt that they demonstrated a real focus on improving patient care.
