ROC

ROCMost effective approach to integration and new models of care

What the verifier said…

Roc Active, a collaborative partnership between ROC and Parkwood Leisure Centre, began in 2007.  ROC had recognised that if the people they supported wanted to join in everyday mainstream activities they needed to do more than simply take a group of people to the leisure centre.  They have now fully integrated their service into the leisure centre.

This approach supports people with learning disabilities to independently access the facilities and activities at their local leisure centre whilst also accessing specialist support as and when required.

The staff team at ROC are all passionate about the service and are as individual as the people they support.

What the judges said...

One judge noted that ROC, a charity supporting people with a learning disability, shows a seamless approach to integrated care and simply said “this is how integration should be”: ROC’s approach is epitomised by, for example, recognising that ‘if the people they supported wanted to join in everyday mainstream activities, they needed to do more than simply take a group of people to the leisure centre. They have now fully integrated their service into the leisure centre’.
