The way you manage

The way you manage

Organisations that are well-led tend to have a higher Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection rating. The way you lead your organisation as a registered manager has a direct impact on the quality of care provided.

If you’re looking for help with your CQC inspection rating, please scroll through the resources and tools below.

If you’re new to care as an owner, manager or supervisor, this guide can help you to learn more about workforce development and how you can use it to meet the Fundamental Standards. To get the most from the guide you should read every section.

If you’re more experienced and part of a long established care organisation, you can use the guide to update your knowledge or learn about new tools available. You can do this by selecting the relevant sections to your current needs.

You’re crucial to making sure that the care your organisation provides is safe and of the highest quality. It’s vital that you can show this when you’re inspected by the CQC.

Our practical CQC seminars will help you to understand what inspectors are looking for, what inspection will be like, and to confidently demonstrate what you and your team do and how it meets the expectations of the inspection.

There are seminars in geographical locations around England. For more information, visit our events page.

Care Improvement Works is an online tool that provides access to free guides, learning tools and resources you can use to improve your service. The resources have been mapped to the CQC’s inspection questions and key lines of enquiry, so they’re easy for you to navigate.

We have a number of leadership development programmes for leaders and managers. Top Leaders is for those in the top positions in social care and will help you improve your leadership style, New Directors is for those new to social care directorate roles, and Moving Up BAME is for those from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

You can also use our endorsement framework to look for high quality training providers who have completed our rigorous endorsement programme.

Remember, you can use our Workforce Development Fund (WDF) to help meet the cost of staff training.
