Support with CQC inspection

All registered services are subject to regulation and inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Inspection ratings are extremely important, as they are publicly available and are often a key deciding factor for those looking for care and support. Inspections are there to ensure that those using services are being given the support they need.

For registered managers, inspection can be a stressful time. Skills for Care has produced a range of resources and online tools to help registerd managers prepare for inspections.

Use our practical resources to prepare for inspection, work on specific areas needing improvement, or as part of your on-going work to grow and strengthen your service.

Use this free guide to help develop the people working for your organisation and strengthen your team. This resource has been downloaded by over 10,000 care organisations in England.

Thinking about improving your service either before or after inspection? You can use Care Improvement Works to find resources that will help you. To make it easier, they’ve all been mapped to the CQC’s Key Lines of Enquiry, so you can choose the resources that'll help you in the areas you most need it.

"This (Care Improvement Works) is vital for understanding what is expected for my company to be able to pass a CQC inspection at a high standard" - Manager, Homecare Agency

Access details of the CQC’s provider regulations as well as their resources for regulated providers.

If you upload your information to the National Minimum Data Set for Social Care (NMDS-SC) and the account holder gives permission, your information will be shared with CQC to help complete the PIR and inform inspections.

The NMDS-SC is a great way of comparing your organisation with others across the sector and helps us to learn more about the adult social care workforce, such as how many workers you have on average, or how much they are being paid.

Our Developing your workforce to meet CQC regulations seminar is a must if you are a registered manager of an adult social care service preparing for a CQC inspection.

This seminarwill help you:

  • to understand what inspectors are looking for and what the inspection will be like
  • to understand how the CQC expectations translate into the behaviours, knowledge, skills and values you and your staff need to provide the highest standards of care
  • to confidently demonstrate what you and your teams do and how this meets the expectations of the inspection.

We can help you make sense of the CQC fundamental standards and key lines of enquiry (KLOEs), understand what you’re already doing well to meet the regulations and explore what else you can do to develop your workforce.

See what people are saying about the seminar here.

If you feel like you need a little bit of extra help, we can offer you tailored in-house support to deliver practical solutions around CQC workforce requirements.
