Choosing the right learning

We’ve developed a number of tools to help you choose the right learning and the right provider for you.

Learning and development should focus on the practical skills workers need to do their job but also keeping the values they need to put them in practice.

A key part of selecting the right learning package for your organisation is finding the right learning provider.

Find our endorsed providers

Our Endorsement Framework finds and badges learning providers who can show high quality learning and development to the social care sector.

You can search for our endorsed providers in our online directory.

Choosing and purchasing learning

Choosing workforce learning is a practical guide to help you select and purchase learning and development. The guide provides information and tips on:

  • identifying the learning needs of your workers
  • the different types of learning available
  • the questions you need to ask to develop a learning package for your organisation
  • how to evaluate learning and development
  • which issues should be thought about
  • finding the right learning provider.

The guide also includes a handy checklist to help you choose a suitable provider and prompts the questions that you need to ask.

The top ten tips for choosing workforce learning are available on a set of quick reference cards. To get a free set please email marketing@skillsforcare.org.uk.

Our Choosing Workforce Learning app is designed to be used during talks with a potential learning provider. It provides a handy system to help you evaluate them.

When the evaluation is done, the app provides a summary about the provider and gives an overall score. You can export this by email for further use at your desk or to share with your colleagues.

All evaluations are saved, so you can see which provider has the highest score.

You can download the app from the Apple iTunes App Store or from Google Play
