Learning programme licences

Learning programme licences

At Skills for Care we have developed several programmes for endorsed learning providers to run. The programmes are available for endorsed providers to buy the licence for and then deliver.

We decided to create these licence learning programmes when the new Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) started being talked about. We discovered that there would be some awards, certificates and diplomas that would not make it over to the new qualifications framework. This would leave a gap in the sector which we saw as our responsibility to fill.

Funding

From 1 April 2017 employers will be able to claim from our Workforce Development Fund to complete these programmes. Up to £350 in fact! Find out more on our funding pages

Please note that more programmes will be added as they are developed. We will update you via our enews and quarterly endorsement newsletter.

A bespoke programme available for endorsed providers to purchase. The programme has been designed to be delivered over five full-day workshops, with each workshop focusing on a different topic:

We have created two programmes for informatics. The first is the Informatics Learning & Development: Introductory Programme and the second is the Informatics Leadership Programme.

Informatics is a discipline which covers the collection, collation and analysis of data; sharing data, information and knowledge; use and development of technologies that can facilitate this.

On behalf of Skills for Care, the Institute of Public Care has produced learning and development materials to support the ‘professionalisation’ of the role of informatics in social care  through the development of priority learning and development programmes for the informatics workforce in the statutory, private, independent and voluntary sectors working in Adults services in England. Two Programmes are now available on licence to our endorsed providers: an Introductory Programme and a Leadership Programme.

Informatics learning & development: Introductory programme

The programme has been designed to cover each of the following modules:

  • Understanding the social care context
  • Data sources in social care
  • Information management
  • Analytical techniques
  • Applying analytical techniques to social care information
  • Data visualisation
Who is the programme aimed at?

The introductory programme will be for staff new to the organisation or new to either the role or to social care. It will give a baseline from which to progress in the future. Thus it can be studied by anyone who thinks it will be relevant to their role, or indeed forthcoming roles. In addition we believe that it could be useful to some in solo admin roles, especially in the independent sector who might wish to progress the business of their organisation by investigating data and information a little further than their current skills and knowledge allow.

Course prerequisites

Basic IT and numeracy skills, including an understanding of Excel at introductory level

If computers for participants are not provided at the training venue, then the following will apply, a laptop which:

  • Can connect to public Wi-Fi
  • Can access files stored on a memory stick
  • Has Microsoft Excel installed

The programmes can either be delivered as open access courses or commissioned by organisations within the social care sector. Trainers will be provided with a digital pack organised by module title which contains Presentation slides, module guides, activities, and handout resources

Cost: £1,200.00 for a two year licence for whole introductory programme

  • Communicating with stakeholders
  • Leading informatics teams
  • Maximising use of data across the organisation
  • Project and Programme management
