The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (Adults)
First year in practice for newly qualified social workers
We can help you to implement the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) for newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) in adult settings.
The ASYE is a twelve month, employer- led programme of support and assessment against the Knowledge and Skills Statement for social workers in adult services.
The aim of the ASYE is to develop national consistency in what a social worker should know and be able to do by the end of their first year in employment.
There is guidance to help you decide if the roles undertaken by your NQSWs meet the requirements of the ASYE. Our guide to the ASYE will be useful if you employ social workers in the private and voluntary sectors.
We have developed an evidence checklist to support you in recording and evidencing the ASYE.
This framework should be used to assess NQSWs who were registered after 1 April 2015. It includes a process of internal and external moderation requirements.
If you have any NQSWs who were registered before 1 April 2015, they should be assessed against the previous ASYE framework.
