Help with starting or developing a career in social care

Skills for Care's own research into social care shows that social care workers experience very high levels of job satisfaction, and are highly valued by the people they support. So we have created the following 'I Care' career pathways section of our site to help make working in social care not just a good job, but a great career.

These pages are for people considering starting in social care and for those already working in the sector who are keen to see what career development opportunities there are. The pages use text and video to explain 'what is social care?', 'starting in social care' and 'developing your career'.

Under 'developing your career' there is an interactive career pathways matrix. This allows you to match your particular social care interest against job 'levels' to find what roles you could move into, and to see what range of qualifications are needed for those roles.

There are also links to a variety of other social care information websites, including routes to employers' sites with actual job vacancies.
