Care Ambassador Resource Pack
Care Ambassador schemes aim to increase understanding of adult social care by giving presentations, and running workshops and other events.
The presentations and other activities are run by social care workers, and sometimes by carers and people who use services.
The aims of specific schemes may vary, however, the overall objective of all schemes is to attract more people to working in social care.
The Resource pack available to download below is designed to provide resources for Care Ambassador schemes and to give advice to organisations that are considering setting up a Care Ambassador scheme.
Care Ambassador Review
The development and expansion of Care Ambassador activity is one of the key actions identified in the care sector's Recruitment & Retention Strategy Implementation plan.
Skills for Care has recently initiated a review of the current Care Ambassador model.
This was triggered by the news that Care Ambassador schemes were being forced to close down as a result of funding cuts.
The review is being led by an employer steering group and supported by Skills for Care. Its primary aim is to create a redesigned Care Ambassador model that can be sustained throughout the current economic downturn and beyond.
Skills for Care is investing time, expertise and other resources to help employers carry out the review and to build and deliver any central co-ordination infrastructure.
Employers are investing their time and expertise in directing the review and agreeing the principles, framework and strategic design of a new, sustainable delivery model.
We hope that pilots of the redesigned model can begin by January 2012 so that it is ready for launch in spring.
If you have any news about Care Ambassador developments in your area of work, or any feedback or proposals that you would like the steering group to consider, then please contact info@skillsforcare.org.uk.
Also, if you would like to receive updates about this review please send your details to info@skillsforcare.org.uk so that you can be added to our mailing list.
