Why some Skills for Care publications come from the SCA

Skills for Care's priced publications are retailed for us by SCA because SCA is a trading body that can process online and telephone credit card payments, and it has an established distribution function. It also has a long association with Skills for Care.

SCA is a professional membership association for anyone who works in social care at any level, in any role and in any area of social care across the UK. No qualifications are necessary to join, and different levels of membership provide various services to members. SCA promotes good practice, believing that the application of good practice happens finally between the person using services and the social care worker. Its purpose and business is supporting that worker to practice well.

SCA champions, represents and looks after social care workers. It has been involved in many key developments in social care and aims for the recognition of the professional nature of care work and of the impact that a trained worker can make on standards of practice.
