Education and Training Supply Side Policy and Strategy
The Skills for Care Policy and Strategy for Education and Training Supply consists of three parts:
Part 1 proposes a brief set of high-level, inter-related guiding principles that will form Skills for Care's Education & Training Supply Side Policy.
Part 2 comprises Skills for Care's Education and Training Supply Side Strategy, which sets out a long-term systematic plan of action designed to facilitate the development of an education and training supply side that offers relevant, responsive, flexible and pedagogically sound learning provision which is consistent with the development of a skilled and ambitious workforce, and based on evidence of current and future needs of the sector.
Part 3 and its appendices provide the background information that supports the policy and strategy.
The high-level set of principles that will form Skills for Care's Education and Training Supply Side Policy are:
1.Supporting the core values of adult social care
2.Supporting employers' needs
3.Supporting the needs of people who use services
4.Supporting the development of social care services
5.Supporting the development of accessible training, qualifications & funding
The Aim of the supply side strategy is:
To facilitate the development of an education and training supply side that offers relevant, responsive, flexible and pedagogically sound learning provision which is consistent with the development of a skilled and ambitious workforce, and based on evidence of current and future needs of the sector.
The objectives of the strategy are to:
1. Ensure the skills and capability of the teaching workforce, including assessors and verifiers, to deliver programmes of learning that are appropriate to the needs of employers, employees and people who use services, and carers
2. Ensure the availability of progression routes for employees
3. Determine funding sources for staff development, and develop simple guidelines on how to access these
