Training Quality Standard
The Training Quality Standard (formerly known as The New Standard) was formally launched on 8 May 2008.
The Standard is an assessment framework designed to recognise and celebrate the best organisations delivering training and development solutions for employers. Of the two parts to applying for the TQS, part A is common to trainers across all sectors, and part B is sector-specific. Part B cannot be gained without part A.
Skills for Care has developed a document to help with applying for part B for training organisations seeking to demonstrate quality in engaging with employers in the adult social care sector:
Full information about the Training Quality Standard, support available to training organisations, and how to apply is available at www.trainingqualitystandard.co.uk or enquiries can be made by phoning 0845 225 1310
Skills for Care would encourage training providers with TQS to look at the NSA endorsement framework as TQS is incorporated within.
National Skills Academy (NSA) for Social Care
The National Skills Academy for Social Care (Skills Academy) has developed an endorsement process in consultation with employers, training providers, and people who use services and carers which will identify excellent training and development.
The endorsement process and route to the route to the Excellence Award for organisations is broken down into two stages: Recognition and the Excellence Award.
The award of Recognition represents the minimum quality level that your organisation should be achieving as a training provider. Evidence from other quality mark schemes and inspections may be used in order to fast track through the Recognition process,
e.g.
- An overall grade 1 or 2 in the latest Ofsted inspection
- Training Quality Standard Part A
- Training Quality Standard Part B in Adult Social Care or Health and Social Care
- Matrix
- Investors in People
But the Recognition process allows you to show what you do even if you do not have any of these awards. Once you have met the criteria for Recognition you may apply for the Excellence Award and may use the relevant Skills Academy logo on your marketing materials.
Skills for Care will be working as Regional Review Co-ordinators for two regions -Eastern and London please click here for more information.
