PQ funding
Practice educator bursaries
The role of the practice educator is crucial in the support and assessment of student social workers and to the continuing professional development of social workers. However many practice educators are independent, freelance or self employed social workers or work in the voluntary or not for profit sector and do not have a clear route for accessing funds to pay for accredited and approved training.
The practice educator bursary, provided by the Department of Health and the Department for Children, Schools and Families, is available to improve the quality and number of practice educators in these under represented sectors by enabling those who cannot access other funding to undertake relevant training, education or development opportunities.
To apply for a Practice Educator bursary award, you must fill in and return the application form below to the Social Work Development Team at the Skills for Care Head Office. The bursary is a contribution towards the cost of PQ or Practice Educator study and should almost cover the full cost of a HEI accredited module. The maximum amount available for each individual bursary is £750 per annum.
