Practice Placements

Practice placements are at the heart of the degree in social work. Students currently must spend a minimum of 200 days of their training in work settings and are assessed on their performance throughout this time. This will usually be done over 2-4 separate periods, depending on the design of individual courses.

Quality Standards for Practice Placements

Skills for Care continues to improve the quality of practice placements by supporting employers and higher education institutions (HEIs) with the use of the Quality Assurance framework for Practice Learning (QAPL). The use of QAPL is a driving force in improving the quality of statutory practice placements.
