About the InLAWS project

The InLAWS project aims to develop effective ways to support Directors (DASS) and their teams with their workforce commissioning role across the local area. It is providing a common methodology and practical tools designed to help DASS develop a skilled, capable and competent workforce to meet the challenges of Putting People First across their local area.

 

The InLAWS project consists of three phases;

Phase 1 (January 2009 to April 2009 - now complete)

A survey of all DASS to benchmark the sector's progress with InLAWS, determine what is working well and identify the challenges facing the sector.

Phase 2 (April 2009 to November/December 2009 - now complete)

Fieldwork with local areas, individually and in clusters but including up to 19 local authorities and their partners, to agree a common methodology for developing InLAWS and collect case studies of good practice.

Phase 3 (November 2009 to current)

InLAWS progression days will be taking place across England to support local authroties take forward their InLAWS approach.

InLAWS case studies of the local areas collected in Phase 2.

A revised Guide to workforce planning guide for providers of adult social care which builds on the existing Skills for Care toolkit, takes account of the Skills for Health's Six Steps Methodology and demonstrates how NMDS-SC can be used for workforce planning and development at a local or community level.
