This latest campaign will be around supporting employers to think about the importance of succession planning and developing deputies in their service, developing new managers on their journey and focusing on the continuing professional development of existing managers.
Over the two months, we’ll be sharing ideas and offering thought-leadership around developing managers. You’ll be able to access information and advice through articles, news stories and resources on our website and through sector magazines

Week 1 : Developing managers: introducing the campaign
We kickstart our June/July camapign around 'Developing managers' with an article from Georgina Turner, our Interim Director for Sector Development – Engagement, who is championing the need for continuing professional development of our sector's managers and their deputies.

Week 3: Learning Disability Week 2019
As a manager, you're responsible for ensuring that people receive the high quality care and support that they expect and deserve.
People with a learning disability can be more likely to experience poor mental health, and social care staff play an important role in ensuring they access the right support.
This Learning Disability Week we've launched free resources to help adult social care staff talk to people about their everyday mental health, and enable them to get the support they need.
Week 4: New ‘Developing new managers and deputies’ guide
As we launch of our new ‘Developing new managers and deputies’ online guide, we ask employers, “where’s your next manager coming from?”
This new guide supports employers to plan for their next generation of managers. It follows extensive engagement with aspiring and new managers in adult social care and presents a recommended route of support and development for future managers. The guide promotes a blend of development opportunities, programmes and qualifications through a step-by-step approach to career progression and includes useful checklists, downloads, examples and inspiring interviews with deputies and new managers.

Week 5: Developing new managers and deputies continued
Future Directions CIC features In our new ‘Developing new managers and deputies’ online guide, that supports social care employers to develop their next generation of managers. In this blog, their directors share best practice around their succession planning.
Week 6: WDF funding, supporting new managers and being well-led
This week, the Workforce Development Fund (WDF) opens and, for the first time, includes an allocated £3 million for developing managers and deputies. We also talk about supporting new registered managers from the outstet and supporting you to become well-led.
Week 7: The value of peer support
