Care organisations in the North West offered free apprenticeship help sessions

Posted on Thursday 4th January 2018

Adult social care organisations in and around Manchester, Preston and Halton are invited to Skills for Care’s apprenticeship drop-in sessions on the following dates:

  • Manchester – Tuesday 23 January at the St Thomas Centre
  • Preston – Thursday 25 January at the Samlesbury Hotel
  • Halton – Wednesday 31 January at the Halton Stadium

These free sessions will provide care organisations with the clarity, direction and support to get to grips with the new apprenticeship standards which have replaced the old apprenticeship frameworks.

Skills for Care’s national apprenticeship team experts will be on hand to support care organisations to gain the knowledge and understanding to take the next steps. Each 20-minute session will explore the options and give organisations the opportunity to raise any concerns.

Christine Burkett, Skills for Care’s North West Head of Area, said: “These sessions provide an invaluable opportunity for employers to find out everything they need to know about the new apprenticeship standards.

“The sessions are one-to-one, giving them a very direct and tailored response to any burning questions. I would highly recommend that employers book a session and take full advantage of this opportunity.”

These sessions will follow Skills for Care’s interactive roadshow at the same venue, where employers can meet and interact with their peers, share ideas and best practice.

“Through the roadshows, employers can find out how Skills for Care can support them, particularly in today’s challenging environment where we know information sharing and networking is absolutely key.

“Employers can also discuss the latest developments in the sector, discuss how to support their workforce’s learning and development needs and how to make a real difference to people in our communities that are supported by their organisations.”

Skills for Care supports the sector’s employers to develop the skills and knowledge of their workers from day one of service right through to senior leadership roles. They provide practical tools and support to help adult social care organisations in England recruit, develop and lead their workforce.
