Skills for Care statement on APPG on Social Care report

Posted on Wednesday 4th September 2019

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Social Care has produced a report focusing on the workforce issues in social care, calling for professionalisation of care workers.

Skills for Care Interim CEO Andy Tilden said: “Skills for Care gave evidence to the APPG on Social Care outlining the issues facing the 1.49 million strong adult social care workforce and the organisations who employ them . We are pleased our evidence has been included in this challenging report and we welcome this initiative from an all-party group of parliamentarians that recognises there is an urgent need to value and reward the efforts of the social care workforce so that social care becomes a genuine career of choice.

“We are also pleased to see extensive use of data from our Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) reinforcing our view that a skilled, knowledgeable and motivated workforce will be at the heart of the changes this report recommends.”
