If you’re an adult social care employer in England you can claim contributions from the Workforce Development Fund (WDF), a limited pot of money, towards the costs of your employees completing adult social care qualifications and learning programmes, between 1 January 2018 and 31 March 2019.
How much you can claim back will depend on the size of the qualification or learning programme and they’re funded up to the value advertised on completion.
The fund, which we distribute on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care, helped 3,637 establishments support 20,648 learners in 2016-17. It’s open to any one of the 20,300 adult social care employers who can claim back a contribution towards the costs of employees completing health and social care qualifications and learning programmes.
The WDF makes your training budget go that little bit further, helping to ensure your workforce has the right knowledge and skills to offer high quality care and support to the people they work for. Research into the WDF1 revealed that employers found “that the WDF has helped them to address skills gaps and staff morale has improved.”

The feedback from employing organisations is they have found the support for the Workforce Development Fund to be absolutely invaluable in making sure their workers can access high quality learning and development opportunities.
We also want as many of England’s 20,300 employers to apply and I would urge them to do so as the funding really does make a difference.
