Social care organisations looking to inject some fresh thinking can now apply to host a graduate for Skills for Care’s 2018/19 Graduate Management programme.
The 12-month programme is run in partnership between Skills for Care and the NHS Leadership Academy and employers need to apply before 30 May 2018.
The programme now in its seventh year, offers a progressive development route for graduates who want a career in social care and health including a secondment within an NHS setting. The graduates are fast-tracked towards leadership roles using the strategic and frontline experience offered by their host organisations.
Skills for Care CEO Sharon Allen said: “Our graduate management programme encourages high-level thinking and partnership working across different areas of social care and health. Feedback from previous employers tell us that our programme offers organisations a highly motivated individual who delivers quality research and innovative projects that improve services.
“We’re looking for applications from social care employers who can offer challenging roles to support the development of the next generation of leaders in our sector. In return, organisations will be supported with funding for graduate learning and development, supervision and management support.”
Graduates complete a rigorous values-based selection process and successful candidates are then carefully matched with organisations that are a good fit for their skills and interests.
Tracy Cole from Sanctuary Care; one of the previous employers involved in the graduate management programme commented: “The most positive aspect of the programme has been observing, supporting and facilitating the growth and development of an individual; noting the change and development in the individual's knowledge and skills of social care as they progress through the programme; bringing a different perspective and skill set into our business.”
