Skills for Care is looking for a Chair for its Finance and People Committee
Skills for Care is the workforce development organisation (and a charity) for adult social care in England. We work with employers across England to try to create a confident, caring, skilled and well-led workforce with the right values to provide high quality, person-centred care and support, valued by those who receive it, now and in the future. We have a high calibre and large Board, and a strategic position close to the heart of decision making about the future of social care in England. Our new four-year strategy will help us deliver even greater impact on the 1.5 million people in the social care workforce.
We are seeking to appoint a new trustee to Chair our Finance and People Committee. You will be an accountant or have recent experience in a senior accountancy role with proven ability to provide robust oversight, help ensure effective governance arrangements are in place and rigorously monitor the company’s performance.
These are challenging times for adult social care, so we are looking for individuals with the ability to work collaboratively with others and who share our aspiration to create a skilled and knowledgeable workforce capable of delivering high quality care and support to people in our communities. Whilst current experience of the adult social care sector is not essential, it is desirable and you will need to demonstrate that you have the relevant knowledge and experience to help us build a workforce that is skilled, confident, well-led and value based.

You will need to be available to attend four board meetings a year, plus an annual strategy day with a similar number of committee meetings (currently virtual). The position is unremunerated but expenses are paid for meetings that will be held in London or at our Leeds head office.
