HEETransforming care for people with learning disabilities and / or autism who display behaviour that challenges, including those with a mental health condition.

Are you a leader in health or social care or allied sectors like housing or justice and you are tasked with workforce development for the Transforming Care programme for people with learning disabilities in Kent, Surrey or Sussex?

If so you can apply to take part in a systems leadership programme which will help you implement the new service model and build the right support in your area.

Who is the programme for?

This programme is for people who have some knowledge of leadership, or workforce development, or integrated services or commissioning or providing services for people who have a learning disability and / or autism and behaviour which challenges; but need to learn more.

The course is for individual experienced professionals who are in a position to influence the system - as such it is not an introductory course

Each group will consist of 20 – 25 people.

The groups are for people in roles like social workers, care co-ordinators, peer advocates, family carers, nurses and community behaviour support team members.

There is no charge to attend. Participants will come prepared to help each other find and put into practice solutions for the individuals who they are helping to return to their home area from an inpatient setting, or to stay in their own community.

What are the aims of the programme?

  • To enable people leading the local health, social care (and housing and justice system) to work together to explore and determine commissioning, service provision and workforce requirements related to meeting local transforming care priorities – focusing on the role of workforce development and education.
  • To provide an appreciative enquiry focused model within which to work in partnership across the system.
  • To ensure all group members have access to the same content, knowledge and information about national and local transforming care objectives and have developed a shared understanding of all aspects of the work, looking at how this can be translated into practical action.

When will the programme run?

Each set will meet three times for a full day about a month apart. The meetings will take place at the Skills for Care London office.

Not from Kent, Surrey, Sussex? We also have spaces available on alternative dates for the following areas:
