Our Leading Change, Improving Care programme takes a practical look at how to influence and implement the necessary changes to meet your organisations current and future challenges and service needs.
The programme explores how to lead and manage change within your organisation and provides tools and techniques to support this. It looks at everyday challenges and real issues to drive change and improve the quality of care that you deliver.
The programme will allow you to consider your own leadership styles and the impact these can have on yourself and others within your team. You’ll learn how to become a more effective leader and how to influence and motivate your team and the people around you.
It looks at how to lead change sensitively, to create a learning and development culture within the team that embraces change and provides an opportunity for innovation. You will also learn how to manage and deal with resistant teams and staff who are reluctant to deal with change.
You will be given the opportunity to think about what changes you and your organisation could make to improve care, who owns this process and how you can implement this positively and effectively.
The programme provides an opportunity to share issues and ideas with your peers and carry out practical exercises which will embed all your learning and allow you to take real examples and solutions back to your organisation to implement change.
There is also focus on mentoring and coaching so that you can better lead your teams and get the best out of them. You will understand how to identify and nurture skills in other people to develop high performing teams and grow future talent.

Paul has over 35 years of experience working in the fields of education, health and the care sector. He enjoyed a successful career as a teacher, a local authority advisor and deputy headteacher in secondary schools in Greater Manchester. Having completed a MSc in Leadership and Management, he took an active interest in leadership and organisational behaviour in the workplace. He became involved in supporting the development of individual senior leaders and staff teams in managing organisation and culture change, through both coaching and leadership development consultancy roles.
Since 2006 as Director of his own executive coaching business and an Associate Consultant with Real World Group, his work has centred on supporting and developing the potential of individual leaders using the Real World TLQ 360-degree diagnostic tool.
He has worked with the Welsh Assembly Government, HM Prisons, Manchester College and several Local Authorities and NHS Trusts. He has extensive experience of face to face coaching and consultancy with top teams in the NHS, local government, schools and colleges.
More recently he has widened the scope of his leadership consultancy into the social care sectors. He has worked for Skills for Care for two years, both designing and delivering their leadership programmes.
Louise has over 30 years of experience working with leaders and managers including supporting leaders in health and social care and health care organisations. Louise is passionate about Systems Leadership, values-based models of good practice and other practical applications of leadership models in real working environments. She has worked for several Sector Skills Councils, carrying out freelance work and as an employee. She has also managed several key employer networks, working with key stakeholders, including working with employers, schools, colleges and universities.
Louise has worked as part of the Leadership and Management team at Skills for Care for over 2 years and has played both the role of project manager and programme facilitator.
Louise is a facilitator on several Skills for Care leadership programmes, including Leading Change, Improving Care, the Principal Social Worker Leadership Programme and the Nurse Leader Programme. She is also experienced in Action Learning and peer coaching methods.
Louise has a number of particular specialisms, these include writing National Occupational Standards and qualification development, understanding and developing Apprentice Frameworks with employers (including Trailblazers) and delivering programmes around Functional Skills and assessment practices.
