  • Get the printed workbook edition of the ‘Good and outstanding guide – workbook edition’ for only £20 rather than £35. If you want to achieve or sustain a good or outstanding CQC rating then this practical workbook, full of examples from real services, is the ideal resource.
  • Our ‘Effective supervision guide’ provides useful advice if you’re looking to improve supervision in your service. Members get this resource for £15 instead of £20.
  • Wellbeing for registered managers: a practical survival guide’, is available exclusively to registered manager members for just £20.  It’s based on the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’; identified by the New Economics Foundation (nef) and includes practical information, top tips, case studies, action plans and workbook exercises. 
  • The ‘Guide to improvement’: workbook edition is available to all members who renew their membership before April 2020. Members who aren’t due to renew until after April 2020 can buy the workbook at the one-off price of £20 from our bookshop. This workbook edition includes exercises and activities to help you make improvements across your service.
  • Members get the Manager Induction Standards (MIS workbook) ‘Becoming a manager’ for £60 rather than the normal £75. It sets out what every manager needs to know and understand for their role.
  • Skills for Care’s Moving Up programme supports and develops managers who are aspiring to work in senior leadership roles and are from a black, Asian or minority ethnic background. Members get a discount on the cost of the programme and can access if for £950 plus VAT.
  • Our one-day ‘Making your inspection count’ seminar will help you understand what inspectors are looking for and how you can collect evidence to show that you comply with their regulations. Members get a discount on the cost of the seminar and can access it for £110 plus VAT.

This guide explains how to identify, plan and implement improvements across your service, to ensure that you continue to deliver high quality care and support that meets, and exceeds, the CQC’s fundamental standards. It draws on ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ practice, and includes checklists and examples to help you identify what your service needs to do to improve and develop an action plan to implement the required changes.

Membership wellbeing resourceYour wellbeing is important. Whilst you will be good at caring for the wellbeing of others, you may not be so good at looking after your own.

If you don’t already have your copy of our 'Wellbeing for registered managers: a practical survival guide' you can purchase it from our bookshop for £20. 

The guide’s full of practical information, top tips, case studies, action plans and workbook exercises and includes examples from registered managers and other professionals talking about their own experiences of wellbeing.

Being trained as a mentor gives you the opportunity to mentor others, whilst learning new skills, developing greater self-awareness and reflecting on your practice.

Registered manager members have exclusive free access to one of our mentoring workshops, held throughout the year. You can book onto one of our ‘Become a confident mentor in adult social care’ workshops (usually priced at £160 +VAT).

Each workshop covers:

  • what mentoring is and the benefits of mentoring
  • mentoring core skills
  • the mentoring relationship
  • tools for the mentoring conversation
  • action planning and reflection.
