Skills for Care, on behalf of the Department for Education, gives employers of child and family social workers £2,000 for each newly qualified social worker they support through ASYE.
To meet the funding requirements your NQSW will need to have an initial assessment against the Knowledge and Skills for Social Workers for Child and Family social work (2014). This assessment will identify their learning needs for the year and will inform the professional development plan.
The Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) portal is open for employers to register their cohort 8 (2019-20) newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) until 31 March 2020. NQSWs must have started the ASYE from 1 April 2019 to be eligible for funding. The portal can be accessed via our website and there is guidance on how to use it.
Employers are reminded to update any outstanding completions for cohorts 6 (2017-18) and 7 (2018-19) on the portal. This will enable Skills for Care to pay the second milestone of funding (£1,000 per NQSW) and issue completion certificates for NQSWs. Funding cannot be issued without this information being provided. Details on how to do this is in the guidance document.

Skills for Care is issuing ASYE certificates to employers for all those newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) that have completed from 1 July 2018 onwards. The Skills for Care certificates will look slightly different to DfE’s certificates but the process for issuing the certificates will remain the same.
In order to claim a certificate, employers will need to update the NQSW record on the portal with the date of completion of the ASYE. Please refer to the guidance document to find out how to do this. If you are unable to see your NQSW records from previous cohorts, please email childandfamilyASYE@skillsforcare.org.uk with the names of the NQSWs completing, their HCPC number and their completion date. All certificates will be emailed out to employers for them to distribute as before.
