Midlands Deputies development group

Midlands Deputies development group supports deputies, supervisors and senior care professionals to build their relationship skills, confidence and knowledge. Our series focussing on equality, diversity and inclusion continues in July as we welcome more special guests to give you the latest insight into emerging themes and best practice in social care. In this meeting we will be joined by Phil Harper, senior lecturer at Arden University. Phil specialises in dementia, health inequalities, LGBTQIA+ healthcare and ageing, specifically gender non-conformity and dementia care. The meeting will also be an opportunity to take time out to reflect, connect and share with deputy managers and aspiring leaders from across our region. The meeting will be fun and informal with lots of opportunity for discussion.

Midlands Registered Manager network Chair peer support session

As a Chair or Deputy Chair of a Registered Manager Network Skills for Care offer local support sessions to support you and your network. In the Midlands region the support is made up of one informal short meeting where Chairs can network and two more developmental focussed session where we look at how the networks can progress, one In person and one virtual. This is the first of the informal sessions. Chairs have been asked if they can attend the Midlands NI Network event on the 10 October – we will look at this request in more detail at this session.

NQSW forum

This forum is for NQSWs from both adults and child and family services who would like the opportunity to influence the national framework of the ASYE programme. Attending will give you a better understanding of how to put into practice some of the thinking around relationship based, person-centred and strengths-based approaches to working with people, and a greater awareness of how theory and practice can come together.

London and South East Deputy network

Skills for Care's local Deputy manager Networks provide a supporting environment for deputies to discuss challenges, issues and successes with those working in similar roles. They are open to people from all different settings and service types. The seventh meeting of the Skills for Care London and South East Deputy Manager Network will take place via Zoom on the 13 July (10am - 12pm). This session will focus on integrated care and me and working collaboratively in care. We will also be inviting the North West London Keeping Well hub to support you in recognising the signs of stress and how to manage them. Those deputies who weren't able to attend previous meetings of the network are still very welcome to join us.
