Effective deployment

Skills for Care, the strategic employer-led organisation for adult social care in England supports employers across the sector to ensure that they are in a position to drive forward leadership and workforce development, including the effective deployment and commissioning of the workforce across all job roles. In line with this remit and offer to all social care employers we have developed this resource to inform the effective commissioning and deployment of social workers.  

Effective deployment: Commissioning and planning for social workers reflects the importance of the social work workforce in meeting the requirements of the Care Act, providing an interactive library of information and resources to support the decision making of directors of adult services, commissioners and workforce development professionals. It forms part of a suite of resources that have been developed by Skills for Care and partners to support the implementation of the Care Act, including alignment to the workforce capacity planning and support model.  

The College of Social Work (TCSW) is a professional college whose role is to champion first class social work and create the conditions of best practice. The College is the centre of excellence for social work, upholding and strengthening professional standards to the benefit of the public. Skills for Care have worked closely with TCSW in developing this resource to ensure that it reflects the college’s professional standards.

Effective deployment

Effective deployment: Commissioning and planning for social workers, provides an interactive library of information and resources to support directors of adult services, commissioners and workforce development professionals. It is linked to the workforce capacity planning model and can be used to support decision making around the deployment of social workers in adult services, providing a useful way of managing the knowledge associated with the social work workforce in the context of the Care Act.
