Employing your own care and support
If you employ a personal assistant (PA) using direct payments from your local authority, a personal health budget from the NHS or with your own money, we have a range of resources to help make your role as an individual employer easier.
To support you to understand your role better, and train and develop your PA, we have developed an information hub that brings together useful information and resources from lots of different places.
- For individual employers who employ their own care and support, the hub contains information on being an employer, training and funding, and matters relating to money including tax and pensions.
- For people who are working as a PA, or are interested in becoming a PA, the hub contains information on the job role, understanding wider health and social care issues, finding work and managing risk.
- For organisations that support individual employers and PAs, such as user led organisations, the hub contains information and guidance on working in partnership, managing budgets, finding and delivering training, and improving quality. We're also running a series of free events to help you support individual employers. Find out more and book your place.
Funding for training
We provide funding for individual employers to support the training and development of yourself and your personal assistant. This includes funding for personal health budget (PHB) holders.
User led organisations can also apply for funding.
