Whether you are new to the sector or starting a new role, this learning journey is an important step towards developing a rewarding and meaningful career. 

The Level 2 Care Certificate qualification is the first regulated qualification on your professional development pathway. It builds on the knowledge, skills and experience gained during your induction and provides formal recognition of your competence in the workplace. Achieving this nationally recognised qualification demonstrates your ability to provide high-quality care and support, while helping you progress in your career. 

This qualification is eligible for funding through the Learning and Development Support Scheme (LDSS), which supports employers to invest in workforce development by contributing towards eligible training costs. 

If you have already completed relevant learning during your induction, some of this learning and evidence may be considered through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This can help prevent duplication by recognising knowledge, skills and behaviours that you have already demonstrated. 

During your learning journey, you will: 

• develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for effective practice in adult social care

• build confidence in delivering safe, compassionate and person-centred care

• promote dignity, respect, independence and choice for the people you support

• strengthen your communication skills when working with individuals, families, carers and colleagues

• recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns

• understand key areas of practice, including health and safety, infection prevention and control, and risk management

• support people to achieve positive health, wellbeing and life outcomes

• apply your learning confidently within your workplace

• achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification

• contribute to a skilled, professional and competent adult social care workforce

• create a strong foundation for future learning, career development and progression within Adult Social Care.
