This #GoodNewsFriday we hear about the Alice in Wonderland themed tea parties which recently took place at two different care homes.

Two care homes recently enjoyed special afternoon tea events, with both Gibraltar Nursing Home and Frome Nursing Home putting their own unique spin on the much-loved tradition.

At Gibraltar Nursing Home, residents celebrated National Tea Day with a Mad Hatter's Tea Party inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The event was decorated with chequered tablecloths, teapots, teacups, playing cards and balloons, while team members dressed as favourite characters including the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts. Residents and relatives enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea featuring heart-shaped scones, finger sandwiches, jam tarts and cupcakes.

Home Manager Verity said:

It was lovely to see our residents enjoying the special decorations and having a laugh at our costumes. It was a really great afternoon.

Meanwhile, residents at Frome Nursing Home gathered in the garden for their own afternoon tea celebration. Residents from the home's Woodlands and Parsonage households came together around beautifully decorated tables adorned with floral cups and plates featuring Alice in Wonderland characters. Homemade scones with jam and cream, finger sandwiches and jam tarts were served, while country music and alcohol-free fizz helped create a cheerful atmosphere.

House lead Mandy said it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves and spending time together.

Both events gave residents the chance to relax, socialise and enjoy the simple pleasure of sharing good food and company.
