This #GoodNewsFriday we hear from LDC Care about how some of their team members and a person they support received a Gold Award from Chief Nursing Officer Deborah Sturdy.
LDC Care were pleased to welcome Deborah Sturdy the Chief nursing officer for adult social care to their Hub in Dover on 1 June.
LDC Care were presenting Deborah with an award to thank her for all her work in social care nursing, but little did some of the team at LDC know they were going to receive their own awards.
Cameron Kendall (person who receives support), Lauren Wraight (Operations Director), Jack Wraight (Group Business Development manager), and Cheryll Champion (Head of Innovation, Quality and Compliance) all received the Gold award from Deborah for outstanding services to social care. The award is judged by a panel and recognises individuals who demonstrate exceptional skills and compassion in social care and their impact on the sector.
Cameron is believed to be the first person receiving support to receive the award for his work in speaking up for those with a learning disability and autism, especially in relation to support for those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
For all four people to share the joy of the award together was meaningful and was celebrated by everyone at LDC Care.
Cameron stated he was proud to be making history and this will motivate him to do more to be a voice for those who receive care and support. Other people supported by LDC have also been encouraged by this to think about how they can get involved and what they could achieve.
