This #GoodNewsFriday we hear about an exciting award win for registered manager Wendy Johnson of Rose Lodge.
Wendy Johnson, Registered Manager, Rose Lodge was recently recognised with a Global Award for excellence in her field.
Wendy received the ‘Most Outstanding Nursing Home Manager’ award at the Global Awards held in London in December.
The awards brought together professionals from a range of health and care services. Wendy attended alongside her regional manager, deputy manager, unit manager and a long‑standing colleague. Among the award recipients, she was the only winner representing the care home sector.
Wendy has spent much of her career supporting homes that require improvement, often stepping into services with inadequate ratings. Her focus is on rebuilding staff teams, improving quality of care and implementing clearer, more effective systems.
Her approach reflects a commitment to ensuring that residents receive the highest standard of care, and through her career she has chosen roles where she can help turn services around.
The recognition from the Global Awards highlights the consistent impact she has had across her career.
Wendy says:
I was genuinely flattered and delighted to receive this award. As home managers, we don’t usually get recognised - our job is to recognise our staff, so it really does mean a lot to me. My career has been a little different from your average nursing home manager. I’ve spent my time taking on homes that need improvement because I believe every resident should receive good care. I choose the services that need change, whether that’s rebuilding staff teams, improving quality or putting better systems in place. It’s challenging, but I thrive on that work. Seeing a home improve, and knowing residents are benefiting, is what drives me.
