Skills for Care welcomes the appointment of David Pearson to Chair the National COVID-19 Social Care Support Taskforce

Skills for Care CEO Oonagh Smyth said: “Skills for Care welcomes the appointment of David Pearson to Chair the National COVID-19 Social Care Support Taskforce announced by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.

“David is a well-respected figure across the sector bringing with him a wealth of experience at the highest levels, and we are ready to offer any support we can as the taskforce begins its work. I was heartened to hear David pay full tribute to the 1.5 million people working in social care supporting people through COVID-19.

“This taskforce will build on the huge surge in the public’s understanding and appreciation of what social care is, and the sacrifices the people working in social care have made as they have tackled this unprecedented national crisis to support the people they work with.”
