Statement on DHSC ASC Workforce Support Programme
Statement from Oonagh Smyth, CEO Skills for Care:
I’m pleased to share the news that Skills for Care has been awarded two major contracts with the Department of Health and Social Care to deliver an Adult Social Care (ASC) Workforce Support Programme from April 2026 to March 2029.
This means we’ll continue to lead as the workforce development body for adult social care—championing the sector and working in collaboration with partners to ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, delivering outstanding care for those who need it most.
We genuinely believe we’re the best organisation to support the workforce because of the unique combination of our unwavering commitment to the ASC workforce—it’s not just something we do, it’s who we are—our deep experience, and the trusted relationships we’ve built over time. This is a really positive outcome for adult social care.
Once the final details are confirmed, we’ll share more about the priorities and how we’ll tackle the challenges ahead—together.
