This #GoodNewsFriday we hear about how a sponsorship from a local care home is helping the Buddy Bus scheme provide community support.
Bernard Sunley care home, run by charity Friends of the Elderly, has become the first sponsor of Woking’s new Buddy Bus.
The Buddy Bus is a community transport bus which is available for use by voluntary sector organisations in the local area.
The sponsorship marks a big step forward for the accessible community transport service, which was created to bring people together through conversation, friendship and community.
Andy Cumper, the Registered Manager at Bernard Sunley said:
[The residents] love our trips to the seaside, historic venues, the theatre, Royal Horticultural Society gardens and other interesting places. Having regular exclusive access to, and use, of The Buddy Bus will enable us to take them further afield and discover new, fascinating and motivating destinations
The new support will help keep the Buddy Bus on the road, enabling more residents to enjoy trips, activities and valuable opportunities to connect with others across the local community.
