Working together to reduce isolation in rural Warwickshire

This #GoodNewsFriday we’re sharing how a community event has sparked a growing partnership to support older people living in rural Warwickshire.
Unique Senior Care recently attended an information event, where the team met with local professionals working across villages in the area. Conversations highlighted how many older residents in rural areas can feel isolated or unsure where to turn for support. The team recognised these same challenges among people they already support.
Since then, they’ve begun working more closely with social prescribers, GP practices, memory cafés and community groups to help people feel more connected.
The team is now attending local groups and events, sharing information, signposting people to services and raising awareness of the support available within these villages. They’re also promoting memory cafés and community groups, which play an important role in helping people stay socially active and supporting those living with dementia.
Nicola Culkeen, Registered Manager for Warwickshire, said:
We’ve seen first-hand how isolation can affect older people living in rural communities, especially when accessing support and social opportunities becomes more difficult. Working alongside social prescribers, GP practices, memory cafés, and local community groups is helping us build stronger local connections and make support more accessible for people who may otherwise not know where to turn
This growing partnership is helping older people and families feel more confident about accessing support and more connected to their local community.
