Throughout April we’re #CelebratingSocialCare and we’re loving seeing you get involved. Every Friday we’re rounding up just some of the amazing celebrations you’ve been sharing with us on social media this week.
Our fifth year of our #CelebratingSocialCare campaign launched on 1 April and it’s been wonderful to see so many people all across social care getting involved once again and sharing their support and celebrations.
Thank you to everyone who has joined in this week and we’ve loved reading all of your posts.
In case you’ve missed any of them on social media we’ve pulled together just a short overview of some of the brilliant updates that you’ve all been sharing with us this week.
New qualifications and achievements
A big well done goes to the 60 managers at PossAbilities CIC who recently gained a Level 2 qualification in Mental Health, which helps create more supportive and understanding environments for both colleagues and people supported.
Congratulations are also in order for Eleanor Casselden from Choice Support (Queens Road) for achieving a Distinction in the Lead Practitioner in Adult Care Level 4 Apprenticeship. She was supported by Paragon Skills in completing this.
Celebrating your team members
Methodist Homes has been celebrating their team member Grace this week, who has been with Mapplewell Manor for almost seven years. She’s built a career rooted in compassion, growth, and dignity. From supporting residents day-to-day to providing thoughtful end-of-life care, Grace’s work shows the true impact of social care.
James’ Place Adult Daycare has also been celebrating their team member Claire, who has been with them for five years. Her dedication, care, and the way she supports both members and colleagues doesn’t go unnoticed by her team. They say that she brings warmth, positivity and consistency to everything she does.
Meaningful work experience for people supported
Affinity Trust has been sharing how they support Gordon every week to attend his work placement with Mecoco, a social enterprise run by Sense Scotland.
Mecoco stands for “Meaningful Contribution in the Community”, and they create beautifully handmade home fragrance products, including candles, wax melts and reed diffusers - but the real focus is the people who make them.
Volunteers, many of whom have learning disabilities, are involved in every stage of the process. The result is products that are creative, colourful and full of personality.
Meanwhile, Persona Care were proud to see Isaac tick a big goal off his bucket list, thanks to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. He was made really welcome on his induction at Ramsbottom Fire station and had a great morning.
Do keep joining in and checking out what everyone is up to by using #CelebratingSocialCare on social media.
