Gibraltar Nursing Home celebrates Red Nose Day
Gibraltar Nursing Home recently marked Red Nose Day with a series of activities to raise money for charity.
The team were encouraged to take part by dressing in bright outfits or costumes, with odd shoes, and colourful wigs bringing plenty of laughter into the home.
Outfits ranged from Pac-Man to a rockstar and even a foam strawberry, with prizes awarded for best dressed.
Face painting was also available, alongside a bake sale with cakes homemade by members of the team, as well as in the home’s kitchen.
Home Manager Verity said:
The day was about everyone coming together and having a bit of fun for a good cause. Whether it was a funny hairstyle, a bright outfit or even odd socks or shoes, it was lovely to see everyone getting involved in their own way.
Sundial Care Home keeps active with fitness sessions
Sundial Care Home has been enjoying regular exercise sessions with G-Fitness, helping residents keep moving and stay active.
Instructor Shannon, uses a selection of gentle exercises and games that encourage everyone to keep moving and stay engaged. Shannon has a natural way of motivating anyone who joins in and often inspires the team to continue encouraging movement when she’s not there.
The sessions are designed to support movement and mobility while also creating an enjoyable atmosphere.
Little Bramingham Farm residents enjoy unwinding and chatting with in-house beauty therapist
Residents at Little Bramingham Farm have been enjoying their regular beauty treatments with Beauty Therapist, Jess Spriddle.
Since last September, the home has been arranging bi-weekly visits from Jess.
Emma Lawrance, Registered Manager, says:
Knowing how much the residents enjoy a pamper session, the opportunity to relax, enjoy a good old-fashioned natter and put the world to rights, we arranged for Jess to visit every other week to provide a regular spa experience.
Karen Charity, Little Bramingham Farm’s Activities Coordinator, added:
Jess has been visiting the residents for over six months and to ensure they all enjoy the full beauty salon experience, we adapted our Log Cabin, transforming it into our very own tranquil oasis. The Log Cabin, which is located in our beautiful grounds, was originally built to host visits during covid and after, became an additional space for Susie’s Tea Room. It’s a wonderful, fully accessible place, which the residents adore.
Jess said:
I have a wonderful rapport with the residents, and they’re always interested in the variety of treatments I offer. They enjoy trying new things and love picking out different colours of nail varnishes to try for their manicures and find the spa music I play very relaxing too. It’s absolutely fascinating to hear their stories. Learning about each resident, their childhoods, family, friends and even war time tales, is really interesting and uplifting – and some residents do like to share the care home gossip with me. I absolutely adore visiting Little Bramingham Farm, chatting with the residents and making them feel extra special.
