Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming how we work across every profession - and social work is no exception.

As the technology continues to advance, social workers, people with lived experience, and wider social work professionals need a voice in shaping how it's developed and used.

Skills for Care and Social Work England are partnering together to host a free in-person AI Summit, as part of the Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care in England.

Our focus is clear: AI should support, not replace, professional judgement. It should uphold the values and ethics at the heart of social work and help:

  • meet people's needs more effectively and efficiently
  • improve outcomes for individuals
  • enhance workforce wellbeing.

Join us to hear from experts in this field, social work teams working across adults, children and families, and individuals using AI. Plus try out new tools and consider how AI could be used in future social work.

Building digital skills is at the heart of the Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care in England.

Who should attend?

The event is for anyone with an interest in social work across England, including:

  • Colleagues from across social work - both adults, and children and families
  • People with lived experience
  • Policy leaders
  • Technologists with a focus on AI
  • Academics with a focus on social work and/or AI

We are inviting colleagues, from any of these broad groups, to share your experience of putting AI into practice.

Ahead of this event read the latest research from Social Work England into the emerging use of AI in social work and why 83% of people think AI could reduce the administrative burden for social workers.

What will I get out of the summit?

By the end of the day, you’ll have explored how AI can work for you, made new connections and influenced the future of AI in social work.

A CPD certificate will be made available for all attendees.

Programme for the day

We've had lots of amazing expressions of interest to be part of the summit programme. Thank you.
