Overview
We’ll be exploring a new resource designed to support all CQC-registered managers (whether NMC registered or not) to develop their understanding and skills in supervising and supporting student nurses and nursing associates on placement in social care settings.
This resource is funded by DHSC and designed in partnership with the University of Exeter in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment. This supports the recommendations of the Strategy to enable social care placements for student nurses and nursing associates.
What to expect
- Support to access this free resource which will be located on the Skills for Care learning management system.
- You’ll develop greater understanding of what the Nursing and Midwifery Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment are and how they relate to your potential as a Practice Supervisor for nursing students.
- You’ll hear from a registered manager who has accessed and used the resource when supporting a nursing student on placement within their care home.
- Universities will provide input into how this resource can be used to support readiness of registered managers in supervising nursing students on placement.

- All registered managers (whether NMC registered or not) who are keen to develop their skills in supervising nursing students and hosting them in their workplace.
