Overview

This session will look at better ways to work together when organising and buying services that focus on people’s needs.  We’ll explore approaches that move away from a purely commercial, process-heavy system and instead focus on collaboration and shared purpose.

Key ideas we’ll cover include:

  • System stewardship rather than market purchasing – leading and shaping the system rather than just buying from a market.
  • Partnership rather than procurement – building relationships instead of just signing contracts.
  • Collaboration rather than competition – working together rather than competing for resources.
  • People focus rather than a profit focus – prioritizing human outcomes over financial gain.
  • Relational rather than transactional approaches – creating trust and connection instead of one-off deals.
  • Inherent public value rather than added social value – recognising the core value of public services beyond extra benefits.

Key speakers

  • Julian Blake, Partner - Public Services at Stone King LPP
  • Lisa Wilson, Integrated Director of Commissioning - Royal Borough of Greenwich
