Overview
This online event is for colleagues working across adult social care, or advocating for people who are autistic or have a learning disability.
It will help you to learn more about how adult social care workers can get the skills, knowledge and insight needed to provide high-quality support in the community.
This is part of a series preparing the sector for the proposed Mental Health Act reforms.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- share good practice in arranging and delivering effective training and support for adult social care staff
- understand approaches to training about autism and learning disability
- apply best practice in training around supporting people in distress
- gain knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training
- explore training to reduce restrictive interventions
- strengthen skills for working effectively with individuals and families
- use the care workforce pathway and care certificate to design person-centred training.
Who should attend?
- Those responsible for commissioning and delivering training to adult social care workers.
- Those supporting people with a learning disability and/or autistic people at risk of hospital admission or contact with the Mental Health Act.
- Autistic people, people with a learning disability and people who support them.
- Family carers.
