This #GoodNewsFriday we hear from Borough Care about their pride in being named one of the best places to work for women.
Borough Care was delighted to be certified as ‘Great Place to Work’ and on one of the UK’s Top 100 Workplaces for Women in 2025.
The care provider started to work with Great Place to Work (GPTW) in 2024 with an aim to increase engagement levels across their teams. Each year they ask everyone to complete the GPTW survey, and once they receive the results they share them in team meetings and involve all teams to agree priorities and action plans for the following year.
They were named as a Great Place to Work in 2024 and were delighted to achieve this again in 2025. In 2020 they also made the UK’s Top 100 Workplaces for Women List which was published in Elle Magazine.
To celebrate this milestone, the organisation delivered chocolate bars to each of their homes with copies of the Elle magazine so that everyone could see the honour in print and enjoy a sweet treat.
The organisation was delighted to report a significant increase in survey participation with 67% of our staff completing the Great Place to Work survey in 2025, a 10% increase on the previous year.
Their overall Trust Index Score has risen to 76%, a 6% increase from 2024. Furthermore, the percentage of employees who would strongly recommend Borough Care Group to friends and family as a Great Place to Work jumped from 64% to 75% this year.
Overall, 77% of employees now say Borough Care Group is a great place to work, up from 68% last year.
he organisation was particularly proud of the positive shifts in specific areas as a result of the initiatives implemented over the past year:
- Everyone has an opportunity to get special recognition – up by 8%. This reflects their enhanced efforts to acknowledge and reward the exceptional contributions of our staff.
- This is a fun place to work – increased by 9%. The organisation says they believe that a positive and enjoyable work atmosphere is crucial for employee wellbeing.
- Promotions go to those who best deserve them, and management hires people who fit in well – both up by 11%. This increases indicates the success of their fair and transparent promotion processes and commitment to building cohesive and effective teams.
- Management shows a sincere interest in me as a person, not just an employee – up by 7% This highlights the organisation’s aim to take a person-centred approach, recognising the individual needs and aspirations of every team member. In the same period staff turnover has reduced by 10%.
Janette Woodward, HR Director, Borough Care, says:
