Headingley Hall awarded 'Registered Manager of the Year' at Leeds awards

This #GoodNewsFriday we say well done to the registered manager of Headingley Hall in Leeds for a special award win.

Sharon Earnshaw, General Manager at Headingley Hall was awarded 'Registered Manager of the Year' in Leeds City Council's Quality in Care Awards.

Sharon has been working at Headingley Hall, an ‘Oustanding’ rated care provider for 20 years, and her whole team were proud to see her presented with this award.

Peter Hodkinson, Managing Director at Westward Care, which runs Headlingley Hall, says:

Sharon has been an outstanding member of the Westward Care team for the last 20 years. Her commitment to social care and the pride she takes in caring for older people is evident in her daily activity. It’s clear her work is more than just a job to her – it’s a vocation to which she has committed 30 years of her life.

She leads her team by example and with empathy – guiding them through the particularly difficult times of caring through covid with great leadership. She has also secured a CQC ‘Outstanding’ rating for Headingley Hall, one of only a handful of homes in Leeds that has achieved this rating. So well done and well-deserved Sharon!

Sharon said:

I am so proud to have received this award for Registered Manager of the Year from Leeds Quality in Care Awards 2022. I was totally taken by surprise when I found out and would like to thank my colleagues, especially John Beck, Senior Carer at Headingley Hall for nominating me.

I am really grateful for this accolade – especially after the challenging times we have all gone through in the care sector during covid - but this award is also for my team at Headingley Hall. Every one of them has contributed to making me the best manager I can be and their commitment and care to everyone at Headingley Hall is outstanding.

This award recognises a registered manager who has demonstrated a high level of expertise together with exceptional skills in managing person-centred social care services. The award is given to people who reflect leadership and vision in developing person-centred care and supporting staff to meet the ever-changing needs of people who use their services. It recognises people who constantly seek positive change and look for improvements in the service through ongoing review and reflection.
