A new eLearning module is supporting adult social care professionals with integrating public health approaches into everyday care routines.

A new eLearning module has been designed for adult social care professionals, focused on how we can all take everyday measures to prevent illness, protect health and promote wellbeing.

‘Prevent’, ‘protect’ and ‘promote’ are often described as the ‘three Ps of public health’, and adult social care professionals play a key role in leading on these.

The Royal Society for Public Health has worked with the social care sector to develop the training which covers 10 top tips for adult social care workers to lead on health promotion and preventive practices.

The free course aims to provide all adult social care workers with a greater understanding of what public health is and how it’s relevant to their role, building on the knowledge care professionals already have in this area.

Incorporating these measures into your daily care routines to improve better outcomes for the people you support is an important part of everyday leadership for care staff at all levels.

The module offers practical guidance on integrating public health approaches into your daily work, with key topics including:

  • preventing illness
  • protecting health
  • promoting wellbeing
  • mental health
  • healthy aging.

The module can also be used by managers and leaders to support evidence for the Care Quality Commission Single Assessment Framework under ‘Effective – Supporting people to live healthier lives.’
