Changes to the child and family ASYE platform and funding timeline

22 Jan 2026

3 min read

The child and family Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) will be extended for a further year for 2026-27.

This will be the final year of ASYE before the introduction of a new programme to support early career development in 2027. Employers of child and family social workers will continue to receive grant funding at £2000 per social worker who participate in ASYE.

Skills for Care will not administer the programme in 2026-27 after deciding they can no longer deliver the child and family ASYE.

The grant funding for the child and family ASYE in 2026-27 will be administered through the Department for Education.

The Skills for Care child and family ASYE contract will end on 31 March 2026.

Further details of how to claim funding in 2026-27, and information on the successor programme, will be communicated shortly.

If you have any questions regarding Skills for Care no longer administering this programme, please email CFASYE.queries@education.gov.uk.

To complete child and family ASYE activities by 31 March 2026, the child and family ASYE portal will close on 28 February 2026. All registrations and completions must be completed by this date.

Action plans must be up-to-date to prevent any difficulties in registering new NQSWs on the platform.

A significant increase in activity is expected ahead of this deadline; therefore, users are advised to update the portal as soon as possible rather than waiting until the deadline.

The final date on which portal support will be available is 27 February 2026, as the portal closure date falls on a Saturday.

Skills for Care recognises that these changes to the timeframes may be challenging, but have intended to provide as much time as possible to update the portal. The Skills for Care team is available for support.

If you have any queries about the child and family ASYE portal, contact childandfamilyASYE@skillsforcare.org.uk.

Skills for Care understands the sensitivity of these changes and appreciates the ongoing co-operation moving forward.
